Antalya
Antalya is the most beautiful city of Turkey’s Mediterranean coast. It is typical of Turkey, a modern city, with a historic heart in the centre of Kaleiçi within the old city walls. The sybol of Antalya is Yivli Minare or the fluted minaret built by the Seljuks in the 13th century. There are lots of pieces in the Archaeological Museum, from the Palaeolithic Age through to Ottoman times.
Antalya has a magnificent mountain scenery, a lot of luxury hotels and very good beaches. Lara and Konyaalt? are very famous beaches. Antalya is much more than its beaches. There are also very famous and historic sites in Antalya. Some of them are; Aspendos: It was an important centre of trade during Roman times. It has a stunning theatre, which was built in approx. 162 AD. It seats 15,000 and has been beautifully preserved. Phaselis: It was a major commercial centre and has three harbours. It’s stopping off point for yachts, has clear waters and sandy beaches and include a theatre, baths, aqueducts, Hadrians Gate, an agora and an acropolis.
The Altin Portakal (Golden Orange) film festivals are held annually in the autumn in Antalya. It has a large number of 5 star hotels. Kemer, Camyuva, Belek, Cirali and Adrasan are some of the famous holiday resorts in Turkey.
